My Dog

I have a dog. His name is Bruce. He is fluffy. I love him so much. In the morning he comes to me and I hug him back. When I do a job he helps me. He is an amazing guard dog because I train him. On sunny days Bruce and I play fetch. Bruce and I love playing together. I do not like it when he gets in trouble when Dad tells him off. Sometimes he is naughty because he goes over to our next-door neighbour. When Dad finds out he locks him up. He makes me smile. My dog is soft and cuddly.

Term 3's Learning Celebration

School open Friday

Congratulations on your A+ Adaptability as we struggle with the challenge of no power. We have no indication as yet when power will be restored to school. We plan to open school on Friday provided the weather is fine, regardless of the lack of power.

Some things you need to know: The back gate to school via the field and Secret Garden are both locked and closed until further notice. This is a safety issue because of tree damage and it is likely that these gates will be locked for the rest of Term 3.

On Friday afternoon we are planning a fun event at the Domain for the children to welcome them back to school. We will be leaving for a picnic lunch and activities at 12pm and welcome you to join us. Subway will run as normal. Icy-slicy will be postponed until next Friday.

Please note that with the power being out, we have no phones, heating or alarm systems. We will leave it to your discretion as to whether you send your children to school. If the weather should turn cold or wet, these plans will need to be reviewed. The school will open unless you are advised that it is closed by school websitesFacebook and the More 92 FM radio station.

School Closed Again - Thursday 12th September

Good morning whānau

Due to now power, phone and alarms at Springston School we will be closed again today...

School closure Wednesday 11th September

Kia ora whānau

Due to the extreme weather and wind during the night, the power is off at school. We also have a few trees down and damage to school property.

School will be closed today - Wednesday 11th September

If you and your children are on school property, then please be aware that there are a number of fallen trees on the field and the bike track. These are roped off, but we ask you to supervise your children at all times outside of the school day 9-3pm to ensure everyones safety.

Thank you

Springston Staff

Discovery Time

Wow! What a lot of learning we have been doing at Discovery Time because as well as discovering amazing things about plants we are learning to be A+ accountable when we work in a group and articulate by asking and answering questions and listening to others.
I wonder what else we will discover.
Thank you so much to our wonderful parent helpers and Room 7 buddies.

Let's Get Going with Growing!

We wanted to find out more about plants so today we went exploring at the Botanical Gardens and Riccarton Bush.

First we played on the playground.

Then we made friends with a tree! We described the tree while we were blind folded!

Next we learnt about the birds and bugs that live in trees. It was fun being bug detectives! What bugs do you think we found?

Look what we found at Riccarton Bush! A big stick insect.

Here we are exploring the bush. Do you know what we found?

A twisted branch growing amongst the ferns and lots of other trees and plants.

A New Visitor in Room 4

Look at what we found sitting on Mrs. Carter's chair when we arrived at school today. He even wrote us a letter.
Maa!
My name is Listening Lamb and I am a great kiwi icon.
I really would like to stay in Room 4 where I feel safe and happy. I will be on the look out for great listening girls and boys in class. Then you can take me home for the night to share what you do after school. Write in my journal about what I saw and did while I was with you. Take me back to school the next day with my journal to share with the rest of the class. I can't wait to get to know you all!
We wonder who will take listening bear home next......

Bee Accepting

Did you know that bees are accepting and work together as a team?
Each bee has a special job to do in their hive. Frida's Dad brought some bees       and a hive to school on Thursday. Frida dressed up as a bee keeper.
Frida wrote:
I love bees because they make honey. Our honey is very yummy this year.
You can hold the bees. They do not sting but you still have to be careful!
